Serenity (AKA Screamer) has twin girls

April 17, 2008:  Scream started showing signs that labor was soon early this afternoon.  She had white discharge and her ligaments were starting to soften.  By evening her ligaments were gone and her discharge was getting clearer.  I kept an eye on her and finally around 7pm I put her in the kidding pen.  She was getting that "far away" look and contracting.  I sat with her until 1:30am.  She was quietly sleeping and was showing no signs of anything serious.  The wind was horrible and chilly so I decided to go lay down for an hour.  Set my alarm for 2am and Niki woke me up at 2:30am for a feeding!  Thank god for her!

I hurried up and made her a bottle and ran out to check on Scream.  As I was walking out Annie was pacing back and forth by the gate ( I had put Annie in with her to keep her company).  As I walked up to the fence I saw Scream laying down and two little bodies curled up with her!  My heart sank!  I jumped the fence and rushed over.  All was well, and Scream happily showed me her new DAUGHTERS!!  I scooped them up and began cleaning them off and looking them over.  I must have only missed it by maybe 30 minutes because the youngest was still very slimy with the birth sac.

Doe 1 is a beautiful paper brown special!  She weighed 6lbs. and ate 3oz. of colostrum.  Doe 2 is a stunning brown with white splashes and weighed 5.5lbs. and ate 3oz. of colostrum.  They both seem to be doing very well.  Scream is very proud and just is loving the "licking them all over" part!  She gave me 8oz. of colostrum and probably could have gave me more but, it is very hard to work those first freshener teats!  She is doing fabulous and ate her grain and drank ALL of her molasses water.

I am so sad and mad at myself for missing her birth.  I really wanted to be there for her but, she showed me that she can do it on her own.  Very impressive considering she usually is "screaming" for me to be with her!  I guess my little girl is growing up!

February 27, 2007

I first felt Annie's kids move on February 24th. I felt them moving around again today and they sure were having fun rolling around! I also THINK a heartbeat was heard but, can't say for sure as it is hard to hear with Annie's herd members stomping around on the wooden floor! I will get pics as soon as I can.

12/14/2006

Annie was bred on November 15, 2006 to Hershey.  She had several "dates" with Hershey and stopped showing interest in him the morning of November 17, 2006.

She is now (as of December 14, 2006) is 30 days pregnant and has shown no signs of coming back into heat.  So I am hoping that she is "cooking" up some cute little goaties!

Her measurements are:  weight - 135 lbs. ,  she measures 42" around her stomach.

I will try to keep updated on her progress.  This is her second pregnancy and she did very well with her first pregnancy.  She even delivered on her exact due date and 11:08 in the morning!  What a good girl!

January 31, 2007 - Annie is now 10 weeks pregnant. She is looking much rounder and her belly looks like it may be hanging a little lower to the ground. She now weighs 140lbs. Her personality is still the same and she loves when I bring the camera out to take her pictures! She loves to model! I thought I may have felt movement the other day while feeling her stomach but, it was really faint. Maybe in another few weeks the movement will get stronger.
